Team in Focus - Balwearie (FIFETRAIN)
Balwearie (FIFETRAIN) are a group who originally
played for fun on a friday after work at Fife College. The version
played by the gang was UNIHOC complete with plastic sticks. The rules?
Well let's just say that there were not any as anything went leading to
potentially violent play. Through time with guidance from Alan McNab
(Chapel) the squad were to buy proper sticks and try and play by the
rules. Once the college gymn closed in the summer of 2002 they were
forced into playing else where and this led them to playing at
Balwearie.
The current squad comprises: James Crosbie aged 53,
Alaistair 42, Colin 40, Steve Barrie, goalie James Bowman, Ron McLeod
- also the other side of 52, and Fabrice who is a young Frenchman, Clint
our experienced coach from down Bracknell way, Peter Heggie 46 ish,
Jason, Adam, John, and Derek ex-Boness, young Craig 15, Wayne 15, Graeme
13, Michael 12, and Scott an ex-ice hockey player who has a bad time
with injuries.
Mike, Neil, Anna, Craig and a few others are currently
not playing or are unavailable for various reasons. The Balwearie team
has featured more players than any other team and indeed they could
if everyone turned up put out 2 or 3 teams! The challenge is to get
a more competitive team but at the same time keep others involved.
